Fundraising helps us protect families, support vulnerable people, raise awareness, provide complaint guidance resources, and campaign for fairness and accountability across public services.

This policy explains how we approach fundraising, donations, sponsorship, and financial support to ensure all fundraising is lawful, ethical, and transparent.
We do not operate for private profit.
All funds must support the charitable purposes of the organisation.

Providing resources that help employers, workers, families, and communities understand rights, responsibilities, and support routes.
Public Interest Challenges
Where lawful and appropriate, supporting evidence preparation, reform work, and wider public accountability campaigns.
Organisational Sustainability
Supporting governance, safeguarding, website costs, administration, trustee compliance, and the safe operation of the charity.
All fundraising must serve public benefit.

Donor Protection

Restricted and Unrestricted Funds

Restricted Funds
Given for a specific project or purpose, such as homelessness support or a named campaign.
These funds must only be used for that purpose.
Unrestricted Funds
General donations used where support is most needed and to maintain safe organisational operation.
Both types of funds are managed responsibly.
Gift Aid
Where Right First Time UK is registered for Gift Aid with HMRC:
eligible UK taxpayers may increase their donation by 25% at no extra cost.
We will maintain accurate records and comply with HMRC requirements for Gift Aid claims.
Transparency protects trust.
Financial Controls
All fundraising income must be:
- recorded accurately
- managed through the organisation’s official bank account
- supported by clear records
- overseen by the Trustee Board
- used only for charitable purposes
Receipts and financial records must be retained appropriately.
No trustee or volunteer may use charity funds for improper personal benefit.
Fundraising Communications
We will ensure fundraising communications are:

- respectful

- not misleading
- clear about how funds are used
We will not make false claims or exaggerated promises.

Complaints About Fundraising
Anyone with concerns about fundraising activity, donations, sponsorship, or financial transparency may contact us directly.
Complaints will be handled fairly and reviewed under our Complaints Policy and Donation Transparency Policy.

The Trustee Board will regularly review fundraising activity to ensure:
